The theme of the lesson: Changing weather.
Method: Interactive, Frayer Model, Bloom’s Taxonomy
Types of the lesson: Mastering the new knowledge.
Interaction: group work, pair-work, individual work, STEAM practice.
Equipment of the lesson: Textbook “English 10” pictures, handouts, Pickers cards, phones, internet, laptop and LCD projector, two jars and thermometers.
Combination with other subjects: Geography, Physics
The main competences:
- Informational competence (M/C1) Students will know how to use links to find and to get information
- The social communication(M/C2) Students will practice reading and listening for main ideas, to develop speaking and writing skills
- The self-organization and solve problem(M/C3) Students will try to work in group and will know how to find information among other information
In subject competence:
- Phonetic drills: To work with sounds and letters (S/C1)
- Reading, Listening: Reading and understanding the words, sentences and phrases by listening (S/C2)
- Grammar: Making the sentences, follow the grammar rules(S/C3)
- Speaking: Speak fluently by using the new words and new lexical phrases (S/C4) 5.Writing: Writing their own sentences, writing a mini essay without mistakes (S/C5)
Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use words about the weather, help keep our planet green and clean, know how to practice English on the platforms, and create their own ideas while working in groups, in pairs and individually.
Indicators: Students use words about the weather, help keep our nature green and clean practice English using online platforms, share ideas, and evaluate their work.
Assessment: (formative and/or summative) According to the stages of the lesson and the activities formative, summative and, diagnostic assessments will used to analyze students’ progress or difficulties in teaching and learning process, achieve goals, giving feedback.
Procedure of the lesson:
1) Organization moment (3 min): The teacher greets the class and asks about their mood and readiness for the lesson.
-Good afternoon everybody! -How are you doing? -How do you feel yourself today?
Students greet the teacher and talk about their mood.
Warming up: Teacher questions to encourage students to think about climate and weather.
-Look at outside. -Are there different colors at outside?
-Mark Twain once said, “The weather is always doing something…always getting up new designs and trying them on the people to see how they will go”
— What does he mean? “Turn and Talk” technique
Students answer to the teachers questions, share their ideas in pairs and to the class. S\C1. (Pair work)
- Checking up the homework (7min): The teacher checks students’ homework using Plickers and Wordwall, each of 5 tasks.

Two options for students: (Differentiation). Students will answer the questions using Plickers cards and for Word wall using their phones.
Students have two options.
- Plickers (Individual work)
- Wordwall (Group work)
They will have 1 point for every correct answer. M\C2, S\C1.
3.New theme: Methods: Brainstorming (10 min): 1. The teacher divides pupils into three groups and gives instructions how to present their group.
- Reducers Reusers 3. Recyclers
- Using nature symbol cards, students will be divided into 3 groups. They will say their motto using the group name.
e.g. Reducers- Better environment, better tomorrow
Reusers- Stop polluting, think green, be green
Recyclers-Save the Earth, save yourselves
- The teacher gives further instructions on how to work on the next task.
T: Look at the picture, listen to the situation, and try to find the main topic of the lesson.
On a wonderful autumn day, my friend goes to the city. She wears sunglasses in the morning, takes an umbrella during the day, and wears a coat in the evening.
- In a group, students must express their opinions about the pictures and briefly explain the meaning of each picture.
- Teachers listen to students’ answers and introduce a new topic. “Changing weather”

3.For every right answer students get 1 point. Students must memorize the meaning of idioms. Students speak on the following idioms (topics). They should paste pictures indicating the meaning of the word. (M\C2, S\C2) Group work
4.The teacher explains about an idiom and gives examples by pictures.
An idiom is a phrase or an expression that has a particular meaning that differs from the meaning of the individual words. Today we are going to talk about weather idioms, look at the screen and try to find the meaning of the picture
1.Rain cats and dogs-rain very heavy
2.Fair –weather friend-a person who is loyal in good times but not when times are difficult
3.To be cloudy about something-to be unsure of or unfocused about something
4.To be windy-to be talkative without necessarily saying much that is substantive
5.Save it for a rainy day-to say something, usually money, possible future need
6.Under the weather-unwell, ill.
There are idiomatic pictures on the screen, not words. Here, try to understand what they mean.
- Students work on idioms by matching pictures with words, do quiz task. They have two options to do the tasks.

Students read idioms and try to guess the meaning and explain with own words. (M\C3, S/C4) Individual work, Pair work.

- Fixing Methods; Practicing (15 min): 1.“Visual content” method. The picture is on the screen; each group will choose only 1 detail from the picture and answer the question. E.g. What would be if there were not a temperature or rain or green trees?
- Students will answer this question in a group and group leaders present only 3 original sentences from each group. (M\C3, S/C5) Group work.
2.Watching the video and make discussion in a group
- Students should practice global warming experience by watching the video and fill in observation sheets.
Students work in groups to complete Frayer Model (Pair work)
- Reflection Methods (3min): The teacher’s instruction about the reflection part.

- Conclusion (2min): The teachers overall of the lesson. I think that you have enjoyed this lesson.As you know all 3 groups were active and we will reduce, reuse, recycle things when it is peaceful in the world. Let us sing together and hope peace in future.
